FACOSH Marks Anniversary With Speech  Prize Giving Day

Frafraha Community Senior High School (FACOSH) in Adentan, has held its maiden Speech and Prize Giving Day as part of activities marking their first anniversary, over the weekend.

The school, which is one of the community day schools commissioned by the former president, John Dramani Mahama last year, has a population of about 980 students and 52 teaching staff.

The one year anniversary, with the theme "Building The Nation Through Quality & Holistic Education (The Role of Community Senior High School), attracted high profile dignitaries including Member of Parliament for Adentan Constituency, Yaw Buaben Asamoah, Municipal Chief Executive of Adentan, Municipal Assembly, Nii Moi Adumoah, Mr. Michael Nsowah (Chairman, GES Council), Prof Opoku Kwasi Amankwah (Director General, GES) and Board Chairman of the school Mr. Kwesi Nkansah (COP/Rtd).

The event, which was held at the school's premises saw some students receiving honours for their brilliant academic and sporting performance for the year. Emmanuel Agyapong received the overall best student award with a cash prize of GHC1,000.

Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, who was the guest speaker, charged all stakeholders of the school to do their best and help make it an elite senior high schools in Ghana.

'Government is committed to laying a strong foundation for our children, and as part of the free SHS policy we are sure that quality education won't be sacrificed. I will encourage parents to take advantage of the Free SHS policy introduced by government to enroll their children into Senior High Schools", he stated.

The headmaster of the school, Mr. Ofori Antwi, took the opportunity to enumerate some of the challenges facing the school and called on stakeholders to come on board and render their unflinching support.

'The running of the school after its commissioning in November last year has been fruitful due to the unparalleled support from all the stakeholders. I will like to take this opportunity to appeal to Government to provide a boarding facility, which has been a major challenge of the school, since most of the students are living far away'.

The colorful event featured displays from the School's Cadet Corps, the Cultural and the Drama Troupes and the school choir.
