Jesus uttered these words to a crowd in His beatitudes sermon at the mount. In this particular scripture there are a lot of principles to learn and with the help of the Holy Spirit we will catch the drive.
The very day you decided to become a born again Christian, people ridiculed and painted you with all manner of derogatory comments. Simply because you decided to follow Jesus.
When you weren't born again, the world embraced and cuddle you but now that you know Christ that same world despise you. What a world!
"Now that you know Jesus and others dislike Him, you are also hated, persecuted and and accused wrongly for nothing because you did not select yourself but Christ chose you to receive his heavenly blessings"©EZ, 2017
Persecutions may be physical or spiritual. When people in your world (home, school, church, workplace, country etc) hate you having decided to follow Christ, be happy because you are a blessed soul.
