Saki, June 26, GNA - Residents of Saki,a community in the Kpone Katamanso District Assembly (K.K.D.A) of the Greater Accra Region have appealed for the tarring of their roads to save them from early death.

According to the residents, the poor state of their roads was exposing them to diseases, road crashes and high cost of vehicular maintenance.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Alhassan Moro, a resident, said his wife is asthmatic and the dust she inhales daily has worsen her condition as a result he pays a fortune for her medical needs.

Madam Zinabu Yaaya, another resident, said she uses most her proceeds from her porridge business on routine medical check-ups due to headaches and respiratory difficulties from the dust she inhales when selling.

Some residents appealed to the Member of Parliament for the area, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, to as a matter of urgency, use his office as the Regional Minister to compel the contractor on the road to speed up work in fulfilment of the promise he made to them that the main road will be completed in February this year.

They also called on KKDA authorities to apply a speed limit on the road to reduce the risk of road crashes and pedestrian discomfort.

The Assembly Member for the area and the KKDA authorities declined to comment on the issue.
