Bibiani (W/R), April 23, GNA- A total of 40,000 people had registered under the mutual health insurance scheme in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai district as at the end of March this year. Mr Christopher Addai, the District Chief Executive, who announced this, noted that in spite of the persistent attempts by opponents of the policy to discourage people from patronising the scheme, the success rate was very encouraging.
Addressing the ordinary meeting of the assembly at Bibiani on Thursday, he said the assembly had sponsored about 141 teacher trainees, seven medical students, three nursing students, five health aides, eight girls at the Senior Secondary School (SSS) and one physically challenged student at a polytechnic.
Mr Addai said a number of educational infrastructure had been provided under the HIPC fund in the district and that they included the construction of a six-classroom block at Manse, construction of three-classroom block at Kojina and Ashiem, while the assembly used its own internally generated funds to construct another three classroom block at Sukusuku.
He said most of the feeder roads in the district had been awarded on contract and that some of them had either been completed or were being done.
