Farmer jailed 10 year for defiling girl, 11

GNA

Nsawam, March 30, GNA - Kwaku Baampoe, 51, a farmer of Dokrochiwa, in the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District, was on Friday jailed 10 years with hard labour by a circuit court at Nsawam for defiling an 11-year old grand daughter of his girl-friend. Prosecuting, Chief Police Inspector Joyce Adamah told the court presided over by Group Captain Martin L.K. Obeng-Ntim that in January, this year, her grandmother left the victim under the care of the accused while attending a funeral at Dodowa.

Inspector Adamah said in the night of the same day while the victim was asleep the accused secretly moved to her mat, gagged her with a piece of cloth and had sexual intercourse with her after which he warned her not to tell anybody else he would kill her. The victim started having pains in her private part and she was taken to the Koforidua Government Hospital. The case was later reported to the police and the accused was arrested.
