The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has held a mini-durbar to celebrate this year's Akwasidae.
He also received homage and donations from friends and organisations at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Among the organisations and friends who paid homage to the Asantehene included the Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council and Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) led Mr Kojo Bonsu, the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, the Manhyia Palace Club, Asanteman Tertiary Students Association, who contributed GH¢500 and drinks towards the Otumfuo Education Fund and Mr Kojo Yankah, former Ashanti Regional Minster.
In his brief remarks, the Otumfuo expressed his appreciation to the chiefs, organisations and individuals for their loyal and dedicated service towards the development of the region.
He stressed the need to uphold the culture and heritage of the region and contribute their quota to national development.
