THE AFRICAN STORY

THE AFRICAN STORY
04.08.2013 LISTEN

The African story is not that Africans are so poor that we can't help alleviate poverty, malnutrition, hunger, illiteracy, disease, corruption, war etc. But the story is Africans are so dependent on Western and European aid's and thus the rich African don't want to help the needy African financially, the educated African don't want to help the rural schools, the communities don't indulge in communal work anymore, kings and chiefs sell community lands and put the money in his pocket, the power cravers don't care about who gets hurt, we are no more interested in the backyard sustenance farming that use to provide vegetables and even staple crops to feed ourselves and small family, The scientists see no need to research into ways and means of improving our food production, the managers managing government office feels they have the power so they can steal states money meant for development, the tax payers feel they can invade tax and pay their way through, the police who are suppose to check crimes and good maintained vehicles can just collect bribe on the road and feel unnoticed, everybody want to greedily rule and enrich themselves which causes others to call for war, The State don't see the need to nationalize or control the majority of its resources(oil and mineral fields), the average Ghanaian don't see the need to question how the country is governed, those supposed to mobilize funds for government sit in their offices and collect bribes at the detriment of the state, the minister uses the available states resources anyhow without minding its monetary loss effects to the state, the doctors don't want to go to the rural hospitals because they feel they will lost touch with city life, the lawyers and judges will get paid and twist justice to favour the rich, Africans now are so obsessed with partisan politics instead of the country's first which has divided the masses hindering collective development, the youth are now so lazy yet want quick money, unemployment on the rise and government seems have lost control on reducing it, we see no need to buy made in Africa goods.

Ok how about if we write the story this way the rich Africans are collectively donating a quota of their monies regularly to help the needy, the educated folks are mobbing up in educating the illiterates, the communities will now develop their areas through communal works, kings and chiefs now uses portions of proceeds from land sales to build boreholes, schools, markets etc, people waits for power to be conferred on them by the masses rather than seeking it at all cost, we are turning our backyards into sustenance farms to feed us, the scientists are practically applying their knowledge to research into scientific development methods, public sector managers now work for the people instead of their greedy selves, the police now ensure good vehicles are on the road, government will now nationalize its resources or bid for a greater percentage, the masses now demand accountability from the leaders, revenue authorities are now going to work for government and not their pockets, Ministers are going to be mindful of their expenses on state resources, Doctors are readily and willingly going to work at the rural communities, judges and lawyers are now going to maintain justice irrespective of those involved, we are going to put country first before political affiliations, we the youth are going to work hard for ourselves and Africa, Government is going to curb unemployment rise and last but not the least we are now going to patronize made in Africa goods to help grow our economy and create jobs for handicrafts.
