Mrs Agnes Owusu, retired matron of the Accra Ridge Government Hospital has urged Ghanaians to have confidence in local medical doctors because they are competent in treating every ailment.

She said they should not fear to report especially when patients' case involved surgery, adding that: 'From my working experience I can vouch for their efficiency because the level of their competency is comparable to doctors anywhere in the world'.

Speaking on the topic: 'Healthy Living' organised by the Kpormeitey branch of the Apostolic Church, Ghana, Mrs Owusu also appealed to Ghanaians to improve upon their eating habit saying they should eat rich foodstuffs such as 'Dawadawa', 'agushie', 'kontombre', dry fish and meat.

She said balanced diet is the hallmark of good health, adding that many under rate the high nutritional value of Ghanaian foodstuffs and preferred to depend on fatty food with much cholesterol.

Furthermore, Mr Owusu advised people to engage more in physical exercises and refrain from alcoholism and smoking because they are injurious to health.

She said women with fibroid should consult medical doctors for treatment since herbal medicine was not a better solution, especially when the growth was at its advanced stage.
