GNAT appeals on behalf of overpaid teachers

The Deputy General Secretary of GNAT, J. A. Fokuo has appealed to government to spread the refund of over payment made to some teachers over a period of time to alleviate the hardship they go through. He made the call when addressing the second General Meeting of the University of Education branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers on campus, at Winneba. Mr. Fokuo blamed the Controller and Accountant General's Department for the overpayment saying the present plight of the over paid teachers should be considered. He urged the government to fast track the negotiations in order to effect changes in anomalies in the 2008 salaries without any further delay.
