INTRODUCTION
The 24-hour economy in Ghana is not a novel concept, tracing its roots back to the 1970s. Numerous firms and individuals have long operated around the clock, with notable examples in Asokwa constituency, once the industrial hub of Kumasi. Industries ranging from timber and jute factories to beverage companies and more have contributed to a vibrant 24/7 landscape.

HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE
Asokwa's industrial prowess, encompassing companies like Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Kumasi Brewery Limited, and Guinness Ghana Ltd, thrived on a 24-hour operation. Additionally, filling stations and the transport industry played key roles in sustaining the continuous economic activity. The hospitality, tourism, security services, and health delivery sectors have also been integral parts of Ghana's ongoing 24/7 economy.

SECURITY AND CHALLENGES
While certain sectors seamlessly embrace continuous operation, challenges arise when contemplating a comprehensive nationwide shift to a 24-hour economy. The police-citizen ratio, as highlighted by Aning (2006) and Bagson (2019), falls below the UN standard, necessitating an increase in security personnel to address potential upticks in crime. Such a move would inevitably escalate the wage bill, prompting the need for a meticulous approach.

ECONOMIC IMPLICATIONS
Expanding the 24-hour economy entails significant adjustments in the production industry. Increased recruitment to support continuous operations will elevate labour and production costs, potentially burdening the private sector. The government's readiness to provide support, including addressing raw material availability, creating a stable market, and offering shock absorbers for unforeseen challenges like DUMSOR and pandemics, becomes crucial.

NATIONAL POLICY AND NON -PARTISAN APPROACH

Debates surrounding the 24-hour economy should transcend partisan lines and be approached as a national policy. Striking a balance between economic growth and sustainable practices is imperative. Political parties must outline their strategies for strengthening the ongoing 24-hour economy, emphasizing the need for better economic structures and comprehensive planning.

CONCLUSION
As Ghana navigates the complex terrain of a 24-hour economy, a meticulous, non-partisan approach is essential. Addressing security concerns, supporting industries with increased personnel and logistics, and fortifying economic structures are pivotal steps. Only through comprehensive planning and a united national front can Ghana successfully embrace and strengthen its 24-hour economy.
