2024 Aboakyir festival: Pursue peace not vindictiveness — Neenyi Ghartey to residents

The Paramount Chief of Effutu Traditional Council, Neenyi Ghartey VII, has called on his subjects to choose peace over vindictiveness in the 2024 Aboakyir Festival celebration.

"The celebration of the Festival is not one person's business but a collective effort", he maintained.

The Paramount Chief made these calls at the launch of the 2024 Aboakyir celebration which will be on the theme, "Promoting Tradition and Development through Aboakyir Celebration."

Answering questions on why the traditional council does not raise funds during the celebration to pursue specific developments, he noted that Aboakyir Celebration has its own unique style of celebration which does not give room for fundraising,

He added that it is however, sad that organizations such as bars, hotels, filling stations and others are giving letters for sponsorship but refuse to honour, even though they benefit most from the celebration.

According to him, the traditional council and his office support the hospitals and educational facilities from time to time with items.

On the issue of some women parading themselves as queen mothers in the municipality, he emphasized that there are no such titles in the traditional council, adding, the only communities with such positions are Gyangyanadze and Nsuakyir.

According to him, there are laws governing chieftaincy in the country, hence, will not allow any such individuals to do what they want in the traditional council.

The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kasim Zubeiru has hinted that the security agencies in the municipality will protect lives and properties during the celebration of Aboakyir.

He emphasized that this year's celebration will be extraordinary since President Akufo-Addo and his entourage will grace the occasion, hence, the security will not hesitate to arrest any individual who may attempt to take advantage of the celebration to ferment trouble.
