Alan Kyerematen, the independent presidential aspirant for the 2024 general elections and Founder of the Movement for Change, has raised questions about the track records of the two main presidential aspirants from the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr Kyerematen emphasised his extensive track record, pointing out that his achievements predate his entry into politics.

In an interview with Accra-based Asempa FM on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, Mr Kyerematen outlined his noteworthy accomplishments before entering politics.

He highlighted his role as a manager at UAC (now Unilever) at the age of 22, his work with the United Nations, and his involvement in the development of EMPRETEC, among other achievements.

He asserted, "My track record did not begin when I ventured into the political space."

Mr Kyerematen compared his background to that of his competitors, stating that his track record existed independently of politics.

He mentioned his leadership role as the chairman of the Young Executives Forum in the NPP, where notable figures like the late Kwadwo Baah Wiredu and Courage Quashigah worked under him.

He emphasised that his rivals gained their track records after entering politics, contrasting it with his diverse experiences before joining the political arena.

Highlighting his early education, Mr Kyerematen mentioned that he started school at the age of four and entered secondary school at the age of 9.

He pointed out visible aspects of his track record, such as being the main architect of the African trade liberalisation agenda and the African Continental Free Trade Area, leading to Ghana hosting its headquarters.

Additionally, he mentioned the establishment of a free zones enclave in the Greater Kumasi area in the Ashanti region with the assistance of the World Bank.

Looking ahead to the 2024 elections, Mr Kyerematen shared his vision, expressing a commitment to job creation and fostering a cash economy.

He concluded by asserting that his track record is evident for everyone to see, underlining his belief that his path has been ordained by God.
