Ghanaian -Diaspora Nurses Alliance Makes In Roads For 2024

The Ghanaian-Diaspora Nurses Alliance (G-DNA) which was launched in 2023, held its 2024 conference, on Friday the 5th of January,2024 at the Cedi Conference Center at University of Ghana, Legon.

G-DNA has a mission of fostering a sustainable local-global collaboration between Ghanaian nurses in Ghana and the Diaspora to advance nursing education in Ghana and improve health outcomes of Ghanaian people.

The theme for the event this year was "Re-imagining Nursing in Ghana through Education, Research, Clinical Practice, Leadership and Management".

The well attended event was not only a gathering of nurses and health professionals.Students and professionals from other backgrounds in Ghana and abroad were also well represented. The event started at 8:00 am and ended at about 4:00 pm.

In attendance were some of the crème de la crème and very notable professionals in health and education sector. They include Prof. Florence Naab, Acting Dean University of Ghana School of Nursing and Midwifery,G-DNA Advisory Council Member,Eva Mensah, Director of Nursing and Midwifery Ghana Health Service,Dr. Nancy Ebu Enyan, Dean of UCC School of Nursing,Dr. Jemima Dennis-Antwi,Dr. Cynda Rushton,Stephen Adombire, BSN.

There were keynote addresses on "Advancing nursing in Ghana through Education", "Research, and Clinical Practice".Also "Promoting Resilience and Ethical Dimensions of Nursing Practice in Ghana" and "Enhancing Patient Care through Leadership in Nursing and Midwifery". "Evidence Based Practice: Applying the role of evidence in professional nursing" and "Mindfulness & Resilience: Self-care strategies to prevent nurse burnout"

There was also a skill building phase of the conference where attendees were trained by (a major partner of G-DNA) experts from Elijeko Foundation in CPR (CPR by bystanders).

This is a very essential and modern, life saving skill that all Ghanaians must have.It is the vision of the Elijeko foundation and its collaborators to make this skill accessible to all.Strategically, there has been a concerted effort to train school going children nationwide. This will bring a snowball effect and thereby make CPR a well dispersed skill among Ghanaians.
