The Minister for Health, Mr Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, called on development partners to strategically position priorities and efficiently utilise resources to achieve national outcomes as set out in Ghana’s Universal Health Coverage Roadmap.

He said the country faced challenges such as emerging diseases and health inequities, therefore, there was the need to strengthen health systems to ensure universal health coverage.

The challenges, noted, required development partners to work together and adapt to the complexity of the health system to guarantee improved health outcomes.

Mr Agyemang-Manu said at a two-day retreat organised by the Ministry of Health with its development partners improve coordination and achieve universal health coverage.

The retreat also served as a platform for open and constructive dialogue that provides a collective reflection on achievements, addresses challenges facing the Ministry and partners and charts a way forward for collaborative efforts in the healthcare sector.

Speaking on the theme, "Strengthening collaboration between Ministry of Health and Development Partners,” Mr Agyemang-Manu called for a collaboration between the Ministry and its partners to monitor and evaluate health activities.

That, according to him, would help create a healthcare system that is resilient, inclusive and responsive to the needs of the public.

He said the retreat had come at a crucial time when the global and national healthcare landscape was rapidly evolving.

On his part, the Chief Director at the Ministry, Alhaji Hafiz Adam, in a speech read on his behalf, was confident that, through their collective efforts, Ghana can achieve the transformative change in the healthcare system in terms of strengthened governance structures, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, and sustainable resource mobilisation in the health sector.
