‘You’ve tarnished your image as honourable; shame on you for uttering such dirty words’ — Dr. Otchere-Ankrah fires Madina MP

Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, a lecturer at Central University, has strongly criticised Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, for his use of vulgar language at the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Ernest Addison, during the #OccupyBoGProtest.

Lawyer Francis-Xavier Sosu during the protest to the Bank of Ghana on Tuesday, October 3 used unprintable words to express his grievances at Dr. Ernest Addison, who is accused of mismanagement at the central bank.

The protest, organised by the Minority in Parliament, called for the removal of the BoG Governor and his deputies.

In reaction to his own outburst, Sosu issued an apology.

“I wish to sincerely apologise for my choice of words during my outburst on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, during the Occupy BOG Demonstration,” he stated.

“I unreservedly apologise for my actions and words and ask that all those offended would find a place in their hearts to forgive me. I have reflected and realised that though I spoke those words out of anger and extreme provocation, I was completely out of character,” he added in a statement on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

However, in an interview on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah expressed his dissatisfaction with Sosu's apology, asserting that the MP does not deserve to be called "Honourable" due to his actions.

"He does not deserve to be called Honourable. He tarnished his image," remarked Dr. Otchere-Ankrah.

Dr. Otchere-Ankrah emphasised that Members of Parliament should always conduct themselves with decorum and professionalism.

"He must bow his head in shame...It's a shame. I feel so ashamed that he could utter such dirty words," he emphasised.
