Ghanaian investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni believes the witch-hunting of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng could play out similarly to former Electoral Commission Chairperson Charlotte Osei.

In 2018, Mrs Charlotte Osei and her two deputies, Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwaa, were removed from office after some “concerned members” of the Electoral Commission filed a fictitious petition against her alleging, among other things, fraudulent activities.

Similarly, former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has petitioned President Akufo-Addo to remove his successor, Kissi Agyebeng.

In the April 30 petition, Mr. Amidu alleges that Mr. Agyebeng has been engaging in acts of corruption since assuming office.

Specifically, the petition claims there were issues with the procurement of vehicles by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

It also accuses Mr. Agyebeng of inappropriate behavior related to judges and the fair administration of justice.

President Nana Akufo-Addo has forwarded the petition seeking the removal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng to the Chief Justice for further action.

In a May 17 social media post, Manasseh wrote, "President Akufo-Addo has begun a process to remove the Special Prosecutor from office. As in Charlotte Osei’s case, the process started with a petition from Martin Amidu, the first Special Prosecutor who resigned after accusing President Akufo-Addo of corruption and interference.”

He added in another post: "President Akufo-Addo, acting on a petition, has begun a process, as in Charlotte Osei's case, to remove the Special Prosecutor from office."

Manasseh, why do you describe the petition filed by some concerned Ghanaians seeking to remove the then Électoral Commissioner, Md Charlotte Osei, as "fictitious" I dont think you are the right person to describe the petion as such. I Ask you, if you had avoided the adjective "fictitious" could you not have made your case?
