NDC branches abroad feel too entitled, we need compromises to move on - Benjamin Quashie

NDC NDC branches abroad feel too entitled, we need compromises to move on - Benjamin Quashie
FRI, 11 AUG 2023 LISTEN

Mr. Benjamin Kofi Quashie, South African National Democratic Congress Council of Elders Chairman has indicated that the entitlement mentality of the NDC branches abroad is not helping party cohesion.

"For some people to think that things should be done the way they want always is not the way to go. This attitude and posture has come about due to the contributions they make towards the party", he explained.

Mr. Quashie in a telephone interview on CTV Wednesday, 9th August, 2023 was reacting to concerns by some branches outside the country complaining about Alex Segbefia behaviour.

He said, Alex Segbefia is human and not above criticisms but, "One thing I know for sure is the he would not go contrary to what the party says and to the terms of reference of the International Relations Department of the party, that, I can assure you."

The SA Council Chair quells all accusations against the International Relations Director of the NDC Alex Segbefia about his intransigence regarding organising re-elections for the UK/Ireland branches of the party.

"Alex Segbefia has lived in the UK/Ireland and would understand the issues there more than me and you (the host). It would be very unfair to say that you've tried calling him to clarify issues and he's not picking up. Alex Segbefia has always wanted to be called to clarify issues to the public," he stated.

In his appeal to the party supporters, Mr. Benjamin Quashie cautioned them to be measured in their demands on the party and the executives. "In politics, you cannot feel entitled and believe that something should be done for you alone. There should be compromises here and there and that is what helps build a political party."
