Mr Bernard Oduro Takyi, a member of the National Communications Team of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), is urging the party's leadership to reward the people of Assin North Constituency in the Central Region for rejecting the governing New Patriotic Party's (NPP) vote-buying tactics in the last by-election.
He considers Assin North as a case study for Ghana's democracy leading up to the 2024 general elections.
Mr Takyi commended the people of Assin North for their intelligence in rejecting the governing party's attempts to buy their votes.
''Despite facing economic hardships under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led administration, the people of Assin North did not succumb to the temptation of accepting small amounts of money (GHS200 and GHS300) and instead voted against the ruling party,'' he stressed.
He called on the NDC's leadership to do something significant for the people of Assin North when the party assumes office in 2024.
According to Takyi, the people of Assin North deserve recognition for their principled stance against vote-buying, even when they were offered incentives
