Public Messages Condolence Message: May God Grant Peace To Pope Benedict XVI
JAN 5, 2023 LISTEN

The Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity (HCIF-PFS) has received with deep sorrow the news of the demise of Pope Benedict XVI, which sad event took place on 31st December, 2022. Until his death, he was 95 years.

Pope Benedict spent most of his leadership of the Vatican in the service of God and humanity.

We feel a profound loss in the death of Pope Benedict; we sympathise and condole with the Vatican in this hour of sorrow and bereavement. We at the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity will always remember Pope Benedict as a good leader, who led by example.

Pope Benedict had spent most of his life for the cause of human life and dignity. His departure is a great loss for the people of the world, and he will surely be felt as he leaves a void in the peace movement.

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI, was born at Marktl am Inn, Diocese of Passau (Germany) on 16 April 1927 (Holy Saturday) and was baptised on the same day.

He succeeded Pope John Paul II when he was elected to become the 265th Leader of the Roman Catholic Church on 19th April, 2005. He was the oldest Pope elected in 275 years and the first German national in nearly 1,000 years. His pontificate came to an end on 28 February 2013.

Pope Benedict set an example by having been the first Pope to voluntarily resign in 600 years. He was a pillar for peace and social justice in society, and was firm and consistent in defending the traditional moral values grounded in the Holy Scripture. The memory of Pope Benedict will be cherished by many generations of Christians.

We express our deepest condolences to all his followers. May the Creator grant peace for his soul!
