It is with great sorrow that we have received the sad news of the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. He died in the New Year’s eve of 31st December, 2022 at age of 95. He was a great man and champion of peace.

We join the voices of millions around the world to express our most sincere condolences and respects to a true Messiah of peace and human values. The Pope was and remains a true inspiration for the people of the world, who values human life and work for peace and harmonious relationship amongst various communities of the world.

Pope Benedict was also a renowned statesman, universally loved across international boundaries; he took a firm stance against war, violence, hatred, corruption and passionately advocated for human rights, freedom and dignity. It is for reasons such as these that he stood tall among others as a moral leader of the world.

It brings true sadness to our hearts to consider the demise of this great leader of the world. He will be dearly missed by all the people of the world, who continue to suffer injustice, oppression and genocide.

Therefore we would like also to send our deepest and sincerest condolences to the Vatican and the world Christian family, including, but not limited to the Catholic Church in Sierra Leone. History will always remember Pope Benedict for his special love for people, which cuts across race, colour, tribe, nationality or socio-economic status. He will forever be in the hearts and minds of the people of the world.

May God Almighty rest his soul in absolute peace! Amen!
