Adu-Boahen Scandal Recalls Dateline NBC Pedophilia Dragnet

The filmographic fallout from the Anas Aremeyaw Anas exposé titled “Galamsey Economy,” that culminated in the prompt and summary expulsion of Mr. Charles Adu-Boahen from his highly sensitive cabinet portfolio of Minister of State for Finance, a Deputy Finance Minister portfolio, reminded me of the popularly syndicated American television program called “Dateline” or “Dateline-NBC,” I have not watched this show for quite a considerable while now, and do not know whether it is still showing on NBC-TV and its affiliated networks across the country, that is, across These United States of America.

At any rate, one thing striking about “Dateline” and which the latter shares with the Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger-Eye PI exposés regards the total and abject lack of any “learnable lessons” on the part of the subjects or the victims of Mr. Anas and his fiscally hardnosed team of investigative journalists. Well, for those of our readers who do not know about or are not familiar with “Dateline,” it is an investigative dragnet that targets pedophiles of all shades and walks of life across the Modern American Empire. The average criminal suspects nabbed by this much more professionally sophisticated operation range from Ivy-schooled Engineers and High-End Corporate Business Executives to middle-class professionals who would ordinarily not be suspected of such scandalously and abjectly base mental and psychosocial mindset and temperament.

Oftentimes, the targets of “Dateline-NBC” are married men who are out to test the treacherous waters of the Christocentrically Forbidden Fruits of Adulterous and Underage Sexual Liaisons. Where the targeted protagonists of the latter massively patronized mainstream American television entertainment program share striking similarities with the Kwasi Nyantakyis and the Adu-Boahens of Ghana’s officialdom, regards the fact that although these pedophiles and would-be pedophiles get snagged literally by the dozens by the sharpshooting sleuths and “stingers” of the “Dateline-NBC” dragnet on a weekly basis, still, the targets of arrests and criminal prosecution almost invariably are completely caught unaware of the existence of this ubiquitous sting operation.

In the case of Mr. Charles Adu-Boahen who, until his widely anticipated expulsion from the Akufo-Addo Cabinet, was Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, as already noted above, whatever the latter portfolio really means or may be worth in cedis and pesewas, the “unlearned lesson” here is Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where nearly each and every one of the government and para-government officials are routinely snagged by the Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Tiger-Eye PI Team. It may also very well be that the trappings of power and influence embolden the Adu-Boahens and Nyantakyis of officialdom with a mystical sense of invincibility that makes these pathologically criminal kleptocrats and unconscionable nation-wreckers think and believe that they are, somehow, an exception to the Karmic Law of Poetic Justice.

Or it just may be or could be that these obviously morally and irredeemably depraved nation-wreckers are simply incurable clinical idiots – their Ivy Imprimatur or Seal of Approval and Appurtenances Pertaining Thereunto Notwithstanding – rotten well beyond redemption, in both the spiritual and the psychosocial sense of the word. In the case of the prime suspect or subject of this column, the added edge of “familiarity” may also have significantly added to the aura of the halo of invincibility that determined the apparently reckless and downright foolhardiness of his venture or escapade. We are reliably informed that Mr. Adu-Boahen was in the brazen and facile habit of rhetorically flaunting the well-known fact that the now-President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had literally once served as the Errand Boy of the deceased father of the former Minister of State for Finance at the Presidency, namely, the legendary Professor Albert Adu Amankwaa Boahen, longtime Head of the Department of History at the country’s flagship academy, to wit, the University of Ghana, Legon.

And he may very well have been fairly accurate in his patently cavalier estimation and assessment because, but for a sneak preview of the latest Tiger-Eye PI documentary exposé called “Galamsey Economy,” Nana Akufo-Addo would have continued to adamantly ignore the torrents of calls and public outcry for the immediate removal of not only Mr. Adu-Boahen from the Finance Ministry, but also the immediate removal of Mr. Kenneth Ofori-Atta, the substantive Finance Minister and cousin of Nana Akufo-Addo. Equally scandalous and irredeemably disturbing are the salient reasons or the immediate cause or causes which evidently prompted the President to relieve Mr. Adu-Boahen of his post.

Now, it is quite clear that Nana Akufo-Addo was not really leveling up with the Ghanaian electorate, when in response to vehement calls by the latter for the President to promptly reshuffle his cabinet and weed out some deadwood, as it were, the former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice in the government of President John “Gentle Giant” Agyekum-Kufuor smugly parried off such clearly legitimate demands by asserting, rather curiously, that nearly every single one of his cabinet appointees had either performed or was performing well over and above his expectations. Now, it is irrefutably obvious that my 78-year-old Wofa Kwaku Willie Addo did not quite fully appreciate the seismic gravity of his, in retrospect, blind and blanket ministerial approbation.
