The Tema West Municipal Assembly has donated assorted food items and cash to the Muslim community within the municipality to show their affinity as the Muslims observe Ramadan.

The items include 30 bags of sugar, 20 cartons of Milo, 25 cartons of milk, 20 boxes of Lipton, and undisclosed cash.

Speaking in an interview with the media Ms. Anna Naa Adukwei Addo, the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive who presented the items emphasized that every year during Ramadan fasting the Assembly supports the Muslim Community as a form of solidarity.

She said the Muslim Communities in Ghana form the second-largest religion adding that, they are very important to the Assembly and the country.

She indicated that Ramadan is a moment of peace and solemn and encouraged the Muslim Community to observe the peace within the period to help in the unity and development of this country.

Sheikh Aziz Sama, the acting Chief Imam of Tema West Constituency who received the items on behalf of the Muslim ummah commended the MCE for the love and support showed to them during this holy month of Ramadan.

He explained that Ramadan is not only about starving but a mandate assigned by God to all Muslims to retreat and ask for forgiveness, and pray.

He entreated the Islamic ummah to leave in unity, truth, and patience by respecting and tolerating each other pointing out that that’s the only way we can live in peace and harmony as Ghanaians.
