Social News Group urge Kusasis to train their children to speak dialect
AUG 3, 2021 LISTEN

A group calling itself Kusasis' Voice Association in the Upper East Region has called on people of the Kusasi tribe in Ghana and beyond to teach their children about the local dialect to sustain the culture.

They noted that teaching children and giving them local names will help them trace their identity and root when they grow into adults.

According to the group, it is regrettable how parents nowadays failed to teach their children the local dialect.

The group noted that the language and name makes one easily identified or traced to where he/she hails from or blood relations particularly those struggling to trace their root.

The youth group made the call at a durbar organised on the need for the youth to get involved in communal labour towards community development.

The Bawku Chapter President, John Azagsiba, said the association as part of communal labour has provided solar lighting systems to some communities in the Kusaug area including Anande-Buluk Health Centre, a community under Garu District.

According to him, the group has also provided shelters, wheelchairs, renewed health insurance cards, support widows and orphans with funds for petty trade.

John Azabsiba however, admonished the youth groups in the Kusaug area not to depend on politicians and NGOs for development but rather come together as one to develop the area with their little efforts.

The National President of the Kusasis' Voice Association, Ibrahim Iddrisu Azubugre, said, the association has helped many people in the Kusaug area.

According to him, 12 orphans in various schools were given school uniforms, exercise books and other learning materials.

He added that a mother who gave birth to triplets was given Ghc6,200.00 to undergo treatment and a woman with an amputated leg was also supported with wheelchair and food items.

He however said, the traffic lights and streets lights are not functioning in the Bawku Municipal and need to be fixed urgently to reduce crimes in the area.

He called on the youth of the area to give up their best in solving the developmental challenges affecting them.

The Divisional Chief of Gumbo and Chief Director of the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council, Naba Alhaji Azonko Mahamadu Assibi urged the youth to develop the communal spirit and a sense of patriotism to help champion the development of the Kusaug traditional area.

In a speech read on behalf of the Bawku Naba, Zugraan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II and president of Kusaug Traditional Council, he advises the youth to maintain the relative peace enjoyed in the area.

He, however, commended the youth group for the benevolent activities and urged them to continue the goods works for the benefit of all.
