The Chronicles Of Martin Amidu: A Hypocrite Or A Traitor?

The self-styled Citizen Vigilante has long lost his clout that he created around his head when John Mahama ruled. Bitter Amidu who was one of the Northern Daggers drawn against John Mahama, was created to perforate the proverbial calabash to get its content waste away. Indeed, Amidu's bitterness and jealousy was exploited by the Vindictive Akuffo-Addo. His mission to pull a dagger on his Northern brother is not complete until his pay master gets his last pound of flesh. 

One of the indelible marks Mr John Mahama has left which Martin Amidu would struggle for the rest of his miserable life to undo is that, he is the first Northerner to have been elected as President in the 4th Republic. This is what Martin Amidu couldn't achieve as the first Northern Running Mate to Prof Mills in 2000. It is not a curse, but this feet chalked by young Mahama would live to hunt bitter old Amidu for the rest of his life. 

I am one of the ardent readers of Amidu's lengthy epistles; most of which are full of brags and chest-beating. Amidu has never taken any interest in serving Ghana; not to fight corruption, not to catch and prosecute “thieves”, but to give himself some empty accolades of a citizen vigilante who was only looking for his daily bread with a big title. As promised him, he was finally appointed to shield Akuffo-Addo and his appointees while hunting Mahama with just empty accusations, name calling and throwing jabs. If this is the job of a Special Prosecutor, then, any nitwit could pass the test even better. 

Here was an old-bitter-failure who patronized they unsuspecting public to buy into a so called fight against corruption under Mahama. With a charged political atmosphere couple with an angry  populace whose businesses got affected by a raging power rationing, Amidu traded loosely and played on our minds. He got us to believe that John Mahama authorized the payment of the GHC 51m to Mr Woyome which wasn't true anyway. If Mahama as a President did anything about Woyome, then, it was that he chased after him using legal structures to retrieve our taxes paid to him.

Jealous Amidu played on this soft part to claim the citizen Vigilante tag and used it to hunt the tolerant Mahama's administration. Who would have thought that Woyome would be walking a free man under Vindictive Nana Addo and a powerful citizen vigilante turned Special Prosecutor? As he said in one of his lengthy epistles, even without state backing and power to “catch” and prosecute thieves, Amidu singlehandedly went to court to get Woyome to cough our money. How come same Amidu with state backing cannot get Woyome to pay all monies owed the state and face prosecution? 

Contained in his last epistle he released on the 5th of December 2016, Mr Amidu literally called Mahama a “thief”, called on Ghanaians to vote him out if they wanted their GHC 51m Woyome cash. As stupid as his actions were, he was spared because Mahama was/is a tolerant leader. Interestingly, Mr Amidu didn't consider the security implications of calling a sitting a “thief” on the bases of perception and not hardcore evidence. 

After allocating as much as GHC 180m to his office, with its attendant fat salary, fleet of cars, other allowances and a big office, Amidu only finds time to chase after ghosts from the North instead of the real broad day armed robbers. Who is more corrupt than a man who takes salary for no work done? Who is more wicked than a man who is programmed to engage in pre-tested spin and undiluted propaganda? Why are those who stole our excavators still walking and feeding on our taxes while Hon Mahama Ayariga faces charges from Amidu for embossing his name on an Ambulance he bought with his statutory payments? 

The United States which is the citadel of democracy and one of the most security conscious nation in the world, didn't let Bill Clinton off the hook when he was charged with perjury and obstruction of Justice. As a sitting President as of December 1998, Clinton was impeached and only got saved by the decision of the Senate. As recent as 2019, The 45th President of the United States, Mr Donald Trump equally got impeached. He was equally saved by the bell (The Senate). During this time, Trump was a sitting President and running as a Presidential candidate seeking re-election. So, what is Mr Amidu's logic in this whole security consciousness? Is this the reason he can't call Nana Addo out even when he has material evidence to indict Akuffo Addo and his family members in this Agyapa thievery? 

Mr Amidu has the prosecutorial powers to get Mahama on his knees if the latter is guilty of any offense. What happened to the so called red alert supposedly issued by Interpol to get Mr Samuel Mahama arrested? A one-way investigations with its outcomes released on love letters and not in reports and prosecution correspondences. What a shame! 

This coward employed as a toothless Prosecutor after several failed attempts to get the person of John Mahama soiled again for the second time, he clandestinely wrote to Mr Samuel Foster Mahama to cajole him to embark on a suicide mission to Ghana. He did this just to get the Mahama's in the news as his job description directs. 

On the 24th of July, 2020, Mr Amidu through Ghana's Mission in the United Kingdom wrote to Mr Samuel Foster Mahama to supposedly facilitate his return to Ghana to assist in that fishing expedition called investigation. Before this invite, there was no any formal correspondences from the Ghanaian authorities with Mr Samuel Foster in respect of Airbus, no formal charges or queries to be answered, yet he was supposed to be evacuated to Ghana via a one-way KLM-Air France in Amsterdam. Their plan was to arrest and handcuff him at the airport in order to create news around the world that John Dramani Mahama's brother was arrested at the airport in connection to Airbus. This would have served a hot meal for The Vindictive One and his family. 

All these attempts failed woefully, leaving Amidu more bitter, because his last straw that was meant to break the back of the Mahama's just got weaker and damaged ultimately. So, the jealous braggart was galavanting aimlessly and looking for an opportunity to reassure his appointing authority that his mission to get Mahama on his knees is still on. While at this, he's worried of his daily bread which is on the line once Mahama's walk to the seat of government is clear and loud. 

So, without provocation and without any end-in-sight on the matter of the airbus investigation, Amidu was forced out of his hideout to get Mahama in the news again. The bitter Amidu wanted to save his last breath with the Agyapa heist, when The Vindictive One forced a paragraph into the 54 page report on the thievery perpetrated by him and his family. This was stupidly done to please The Vindictive One and family who were indicted, and to also save his job as a Prosecutor.

A prosecutor who is paid with our taxes to catch our thieves can't find any tangible reason to dare supposed culprits to man-up to be investigated. He simply invites them or force them to appear for questioning. A prosecutor doesn't need to write lengthy epistles to brag about his prowess in the law and his experience in security & intelligence, he simply apply same to get results. If the results we can get from bitter Amidu is still the same epistles for news headlines and not our stolen money or getting the thieves arrested, prosecuted and jailed, then Amidu is a renowned scammer who doesn't cajole his victims to steal from them but force to rape them of their belongings. 

At least we have the Mahama's, where are the Amidu's? You won't get them because the Bitter One has fought everyone including his immediate family and now he's lonely, bitter and angry. Amidu accused Alfred Mahama of forgery but he can't arrest or even call him for questioning. Indeed, Amidu needs help as Edudzi Tamakloe Esq puts it. 

Can Amidu show us one successful investigation and prosecution since he got appointed and given our taxes to work with? Why is Woyome still not in Nsawam? It seems Woyome is even comfortable under Amidu as an official prosecutor with the power to charge than he was under Mahama who was accused of shielding the former. 

There is absolutely nothing special about Amidu's Office. A disappointed, jealous, bitter, bragging old Amidu, will live to be hunted by the unstoppable progress of the young Mahama who has achieved what Amidu couldn't when he was given the opportunity to run with late Prof Mills as a Vice Presidential Candidate in 2000. 

One wise Northern old lady once said that...”if you want to stab a Northerner, put the dagger in his own hands.”
