American gospel musician William McDowell has said he lives his life and career to please God and is not moved by winning awards for his songs.

His album ‘Withholding nothing’ lost out of the 2015 Grammy’s for best gospel album category.

The musician who was in Ghana for the 2018 edition of the ‘Souled Awwt’ concert organized by the Rain Foundation told Joy News’ MzGee that an artiste can awards yet live a life unpleasing to God.

“It means absolutely nothing. It means on earth people are recognizing your impact at some level but it means nothing because you can win an award and live a life that doesn’t please Lord. We work for heavenly rewards.”

Mr McDowell also disclosed that he keeps returning to Ghana for ministry despite his busy schedule because of Ghana’s good name across the world.

“The Ghanaian reputation around the world even in the United States is a good one,” he said.

The gospel musician spoke fondly of 2017 artiste of the year, Joe Mettle.
