JUL 2, 2019 LISTEN

Liverpool winger Sadio Mané scored twice at the 30 June Stadium on Monday, July 1, 2019, as his Senegalese side thrashed the Harambee Stars of Kenya in a group C encounter of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

An all-around five-star performance from the Teranga Lions helped the side to break down a well-organized Kenyan side who managed to contain the victors for well over 60 minutes.

After dominating for most parts of the game, pacey winger Ismaily Sarr broke the deadlock of the match on the 63rd minute after star man Sadio Mané had wasted a penalty in the first half.

Less than 10 minutes after the opening goal, Sadio Mané was presented with a glorious opportunity which he calmly scored to give his side a deserved two-goal cushion.

He went ahead to wrap up an emphatic victory for his side on the 78th minute when he completed his brace. He was given another opportunity from the penalty spot but this time around he made sure he found the back of the net.

The win means Senegal has finished in the second position on the group C standings with 6 points ahead of Kenya who managed to amass just 3. By virtue of that, Algeria who maintained a 100% record in the preliminary stage will qualify alongside the Senegalese.
