Communications Director for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Lawyer Sarfo Duku has debunked speculations about players winning bonuses being increased. According to the management member, no such decision has been communicated by management of the club to players.

Kotoko will be in action in the CAF Confederations Cup tomorrow, January 20 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. They go into that game with a 3-2 win from the first leg and look favorites to make it past this stage.

One major news that has made headlines all week is the fact that management of the Kumasi based side has increased players winning bonuses to motivate them to play their hearts out come Sunday. Speaking to Class FM yesterday however, Lawyer Sarfo Duku has rubbished the news whiles citing that is on merely a rumor.

“That news that is circulating never came from management. We have told our players that football is their business so if they do it well they know the benefits that will come out of it”.

“But we are not in the position to be always be coming out with special bonuses and stuff like that. What happens if one day you are not able to do that”?

“So we have told them that it is not in our plans to be declaring special bonuses ahead of matches like this”, the Kotoko Communications Directors disclosed.

He further indicated that management of the club wants the players to play as professionals and when they do well they will be rewarded for their effort.

“We want them to work and work hard and the benefits will be that they will be the best persons to assess. So we have not come out with any figure, any special bonus. I think that it is one of those rumors”, he said.

He adds that players of the Porcupine Warriors are motivate ahead of the second leg tie because they know what is at stake. If results go their way tomorrow, it will take them straight into the money zone of this year’s CAF Confederations Cup competition.

Fans are being urged to troop to Baba Yara in their numbers tomorrow to offer their support to cheer the team to victory. The match will kickoff at 3:00pm.
