Referee Fabricio Duarte has been appointed as the middle man for the Confederation Cup match between Asante Kotoko and Coton Sport on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Cape Verdean has a depth of experience in handling international matches and he was the man in charge of the Confederation Cup game between Djoliba AC and APR FC last year.

The 31-year-old also has some CAF Champions League experience having handled the preliminary game between Armed Forces and Zanaco FC in 2018, Ports Authority FC and Sewe Sports in 2017 among others.

Duarte is described as a firm and no-nonsense referee who once showed seven yellow cards in one game between Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria during their Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations qualifier.

The referee who has not shown any red card in his career in international matches has also not awarded a penalty to any away team but has awarded only two penalties to a home team.

Again out of the 11 international matches he has handled so far, the Cape Verdean has awarded a total of 34 yellow cards with away teams receiving the highest of 21 while 13 of them have gone to the home teams.

On Sunday he would be assisted by other experienced officials including Fernando Wilson Jorge also from Cape Verde and Issa Yaya from Chad.
