Normalization Committee Is Politically Inclined – Takyi Arhin

The Chief Executive officer for Techiman Eleven Wonders has accused Government and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of ensuring that members of the recently formed normalization committee are people who belong to their party.

FIFA last week named a four-member normalization committee to assume the role of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) until an election is conducted next year to elect an FA boss.

The committee is made up of Dr. Kofi Amoah as President, Former Airtel CEO Lucy Quist, ex-Kotoko Board Member Kofi Dua-Adonteng, and Naa Odofoley Nortey, a board member of the Attorney General department complete the list of members of the committee.

Mr Takyi Arhin is asserting that members of the Normalization Committee belong to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and it is not the best if their aim is to reform football in the country. According to him, the committee set up by FIFA and government cannot succeed due to the fact that it is politically inclined.

Speaking to Asempa FM this morning, the football administrator said; “Almost all the members of the Normalization committee belong to the same political background”.

He continued, “Nothing good will come out of this committee (normalization committee). I don’t trust them to do a good job at all”.

Mr Takyi Arhin who is the Brong Ahafo Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress further indicated that the only person fit to do the job in the committee is Lawyer Duah Adonteng.

He described Lawyer Duah Adonteng as the brighter spot on the Normalization Committee whiles maintaining that the rest are just adding up. He believes the rest are what we call jobs for the people in our political circle.

The Techiman Eleven Wonders General Manager bemoans the fact that the sports ministry did not do proper consultations before choosing the people to serve on the committee.

He is adamant that if the ministry had taken its time to do wider consultation, then this would not be the people to form the normalization committee.
