Joseph Nii Adotey Mingle, President of the Ghana Kick Boxing Association (GKBA) who is seeking to become the new Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) says one of the major issues they want to address is “Youth In Sports” and want to encourage more Ghanaian youth to engage in sporting activity.

Speaking to Yours Truly, he hinted that Ghana has talent in all sports and so attention must be given to the disciplines that many people have interest.

He noted that schools and colleges sports has gone down with the interest in athletics dying in Accra especially.

“Our GOC will ensure that Inter Colleges Athletics is back, for the students to know that all work and no play makes the child dull” he said.

The Mankralo of Sempe Sakaman with stool name Nii Adotey Dzata 1 said lands demarcated for sports and recreational centers have been sold for other purposes and appealed to chiefs to support to construction of sports facilities because they can be used for other social activities as well as make people healthy.

He said as a sports man, he would never discriminate, but rather share love and hope that every discipline is developed and have basic facilities for training.

He lamented the lack of equipment for Kick Boxing and difficulties in forming the national team for international tournaments and hoped that the sports budget would make every association satisfied.

He suggested that every region should get a stadium just like the Cape Coast model and indoor sports complexes should also be built in communities with interest in Basketball, Tennis, Table Tennis, Athletics, Boxing, Hockey, Volleyball, Handball, Badminton and Kick Boxing or Martial Arts.

According to Nii Dzata 1, Ghana has a vast stretch of beach land and so beach sports should also be encouraged in the beach communities.

He expressed his total support for Ben Nunoo Mensah, who is going for President of the GOC and asked everyone who wants change for the better or positive change and transparency to vote for the team who want renaissance in Ghana Sports.

“We are coming to put things in correct shape and perspective, we are coming to involve every sports person and work as a team. We have a vision to save Ghana Sports and that is why am involved seriously” he added.

Commenting on the recent FIFA President’s visit to Ghana, he stressed that it is very significant and confirms that Ghana Sports is at a top level and many important sports personalities are monitoring what is happening in Ghana and the Black Stars performance which is above average.
