Lesley Sackey, an Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) female champion last Saturday presented boxing kits worth several hundreds of pounds to the Attoh Quarshie Boxing Gym in James Town, Accra.

The items included boxing gloves, canvases, head guards, sparring gloves and track suits.

Lesley, a British-Ghanaian, who is also a European Union gold medalist, has been in the country with BBC Sports journalist Rasheed Speede for nine days to investigate female boxing in Ghana in a new documentary.

In a post-presentation interview, she told DAILY GUIDE SPORTS that 'I have been training at this gym since I arrived, and I have realized that the items will benefit the gym.

'The standard of boxing in the country is high, the last bouts of the Greater Accra Amateur Championship which ended last Friday is an ample testimony to what I am saying,' she added.

Coach Ofori Asare from the Attoh Quarshie Gym, Emelia Appiah, Lilian Asare (both boxers) and Ameley Turkson, former female boxer, in separate words, thanked Lesley for the gesture and promised to put the items to good use.
