GAABA Top 4 Heats Up

THE GREATER Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA) Special Top Four tournament continued last Friday with some exciting bouts at the Prisons Canteen in Accra.

In the Light Flyweight division, Jessy Lartey of the Fit Square gym defeated Duke Micah by 2-1, while Samuel Y. Addo lost 1-2 to Raphael Abrompa of the Wisdom gym in the Flyweight division, with Michael Pappoe of the Panix gym defeating Uland De Pumpy by 3-0 in their Featherweight contest.

In the same Featherweight division, Abraham O. Bonsu overpowered his opponent, Nii Ofori Tetteh in 26 seconds, as Offei Dodoo of the Attoh Quarshie gym won by 3-0 over Evans Dodoo in the Lightweight division.

In another Lightweight contest, Odoi Yemofio lost 0-3 to Daniel Amarteifio of the Attoh Quarshie gym.

The Light Welterweight bout between Felix Agbozo and Samuel Kotey did not come on while Maxwell Amponsah of the Jah Bless gym had a walkover over Djangma Zetu in the Light Heavyweight division.

Sources close to the GAABA indicated that the tournament, which would end on December 28 this year, is to select a final team to represent the region in the international competition against the United Kingdom (UK) team and the association will also this week organize a triangular regional competition in Tamale with competing boxers from the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.
