Let’s all support Team Ghana to win more medals at 13th African Games – Sports Minister urges Ghanaians

The Minister for Youth and Sports in Ghana, Mustapha Ussif has urged Ghanaians to rally behind the country’s sportsmen at the 13th African Games for them to win more medals.

Ghana is hosting the 13th African Games from March 8 to March 23.

Addressing a Press Briefing in Accra on Monday, March 4, Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif urged the Ghanaian public to cheer on Team Ghana throughout the period.

“I want to appeal to the entire public to rally behind the national teams. We have been talking all the time that we concentrate more on football. This time we are supporting all the athletes so Ghanaians must support all the teams so that they can win more medals for us,” the Minister said.

In his briefing, the Sports Minister admonished businesses in Ghana and abroad to partner with government and sponsor the 13th Africa Games.

“I appeal to corporate Ghana to partner us to support this African Games. We also want to appeal to Multinationals to come to our aid by way of sponsorship. The entire Africa is coming here and that gives them a huge market. They should take advantage and I have no doubt they will get huge benefits,” Hon. Mustapha Ussif said.

The total contract sum for the provision of facilities for the 13th African Games, approved by the Parliament of Ghana, amounted to $195,244,153.

According to Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, the funding for the projects, relating to the provision of the facilities for the hosting and organisation of the Games has been good as all contractors have been paid.

He said government has made the necessary investments for Ghana to host the best Games ever.
