Every fair-minded individual assessing critically the aftermath of the Otumfuo Invitational Tournament, can conclude that the competition did not achieve the desired expectation and enthusiam which was anticipated before the commencement of the tournament.
The pull-out of the two glamorous football clubs, that is the initial pull-out of Accra Hearts of oak and the subsequent one by Eyimba FC of Nigeria, almost took away the keenness and the excitement which all the football fans and spectators anticipated.
Therefore a corporate entity or firm worth its salt wishing to associate itself with such tournaments, in terms of sponsorship does so with the realisation that the competition will generate public interest and intensed debate, resulting a high patronage of matches.
The poor patronage and lack of excitement of the afore-mentioned tournament should serve as a cue to organisers and supporters of Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC to compromise their stance,to let the up-coming GHALCA TOP 4 competition to be keen and excited, in order to attract more sponsorships from corporate entities.
Besides,I humbly wish to advise supporters of Kotoko that their impasse with chairman of GHALCA, J. Y. Appiah should not result their intent pull-out, but they should rather consider it as a challenge, and particapate in the tournament and annex the trophy.
Again, supporters of Kumasi Asante Kotoko must bear in mind that their club is still a member of GHALCA,which is distinct entity from JY Appiah in person,so if they thought that JY Appiah tenure as a chairman of GHALCA is undermining the growth and progress of their club they should use the legal means to unseat him.
The pull-out of the tournament is not the answer,as Kotoko will greatly benefit from the tournament,in term of finance and preparation to Africa, thus serving as one of their sources of revenue ,bailing them out of calling on the government to help them go to Africa.
To sum up,all football clubs in the country must bear in mind that to attract corporate sponsorship mainly depends on the keenness and excitement of any tournament they participate .
