The orphan's plight

All that she is entitled to, she lost
Through no fault of hers.
Yet the world is at fault with her
Enduring all that cannot be endured.
Though she be such fragile flower
Nothing good, she deserves not
Only the unwanted
The tattered clothes and the cramps of the floor
The first to be called to work
The last to be called to eat
One who dare not make mistakes
Left to sit in the dark corners
Everyone's tool, no one's trophy
What saddens most that one sees anything wrong with this.
