Some of the relatives who spoke to Joy News say the late Ahmed received a call Wednesday night – while hanging out with some community folk – that his ward was not feeling well.

“…shortly after leaving our company to take the boy to the hospital, we heard he was shot dead by some men rode away on a motorbike,” of the residents said.

When Joy News visited the community Thursday afternoon, the youth were agitated by the murder and are demanding justice for Ahmed.

A cousin of the deceased, Abdul Jalil Yakubu says the family is giving the state authorities a week’s ultimatum to produce some credible progress made in the investigation or they will be forced to react.

“What we need is justice but when the justice fails we will react…we are fearless, we are Dagombas and we are warriors…so we need justice,” he told Joy News’ Maxwell Agbagba.

Are there any suspects?

Although most of the relatives who spoke declined to mention names, they made it clear that they were looking in the direction of one legislator who had incited the public to attack their kinsman.

But Mr. Yakubu categorically mentioned the Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong who called on the public to attack Ahmed and said he would pay for the said attack.

The Parliamentarian showed pictures of the journalist and called him a bad boy.

Why?

Mr. Agyapong began his attacks on the late journalist after the Tiger Eye PI team released an investigative piece, Number 12, which detailed corruption in the football circles of Ghana.

The MP vociferously questioned the methods used by the undercover team to gather their evidence.

He subsequently released a video himself titled “Who Watches the Watchman” as a response to the Number 12 piece.

Meanwhile, police have visited the community to gather evidence and commence investigations.
