NDC Slams Gov’t For Abandoning Tain Hospital

The opposition national Democratic Congress (NDC) is accusing the Akuffo Addo led government of abandoning the Tain District Hospital project.

According to the party,the project which was almost completed before the NDC went into opposition has since not been completed since the NPP came to power.

Speaking in an interview on Ark News, Brong Ahafo Regional Communications Officer of the NDC, Charles Akowuah Tuffour noted that the absence of a hospital in the area is affecting healthcare delivery.

“Let me tell you, Taxis have become ‘alternative ambulances’ for referrals of critically ill patients due to lack of an ambulance at the current hospital in the district” he stated.

Charles Akowuah Tuffour, said the only ambulance had been out of use for a long time and is currently parked on stones at the compound.

He said the Tain District Hospital if completed will serve the health needs of residents in and out of the district.

Mr. Tuffour, said residents in Banda District,Wenchi Municipality and some parts of the Tano North and South District can access healthcare at the facility.

Charles Akowuah called on government to as a matter of urgency see to the operationalization of the facility as promised by the Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu in 2018 to improve healthcare.
