Osei Assibey-Antwi, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), has called for support in the campaign to instil discipline in the Ghanaian citizenry.

The sustainable growth of any country, he said, was dependent on law and order, and therefore, the people should always adhere to acceptable values and norms in their respective fields of endeavour.

'We should resolve to do the right thing at all time if we are to realize our development objectives,' he told the Christian community in Kumasi, when he joined various churches at different services to usher in the New Year.

The denominations he visited included Krofrom Baptist Church, Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Bantama Pentecost Church and Power Chapel Worldwide.

The occasion saw the church praying for the nation's prosperity and wishing for the people good tidings in the year ahead.

Mr. Assibey-Antwi, who was accompanied by some Heads of Departments at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), advised the people to shun the haphazard dumping of refuse, saying the Assembly had huge difficulty in dealing with waste management.

They should also desist from trading at unapproved areas since it created unnecessary congestion, particularly within the Central Business District.

The MCE outlined various development programmes initiated by the Assembly to bring improvement in the lives of the people, and as a result, urged the people to rally behind the authorities in order to realize their vision.

The Reverend Enoch Boachie, in-charge of the Krofrom Baptist Church, appealed to the government to invest in pro-poor programmes for the benefit of the people.
