Conflict Between The Minister Of National Security And The National Security Coordinator Of Ghana
03.12.2018 LISTEN

It is widely known that there is a strained relationship between the Minister of National Security and the National Security Coordinator of Ghana. Reasons for the misunderstanding are not work related but rather about money. It appears both parties do not understand the nature of their work hence, the misunderstandings.

Although it can be said that the Minister is a good gentleman, his knowledge on National Security is limited.

According to the history of the office, the National Security Coordinator was once a BNI Director during the Kuffuor era. His records at BNI are nothing to write home about, showing clearly his way of working in the National Security. These people do not concentrate on the work but rather the monetary benefits they gain from their positions.

As we get closer to elections, we need to get people who know and understand the work to be in charge. Some of the officers in the National Security who remain loyal to the government are worried and if we don’t get rid of them to solve this problem, it may lead to a big disaster.

Any report from these two people is not likely to be credible because they do not work as a team. This lack of professionalism hinders the entire security network in the country especially when the President still has enemies in this office who, due to the disunity between these two officers, have been able to infiltrate and leak classified information.

This office is said to be the worst we have had in the history of Ghana’s National Security. There is no discipline there and everybody does what pleases him. The President should not forget that this is his office since it is his primary and official source on security issues.

Something needs to be done before things get out of control.
