Obom Chiefs And Elders Offer Land For SHS Block

The chiefs and elders of Obom of Ga South, in the Greater Accra Region, have offered land for the construction of a Senior High School (SHS) to cater for the growing student population in the area.

A seven-member educational committee set up by the Chief of Obom, Nii Kpakpo Amaatey II, have also raised an amount of GH¢15,981.00 for an Educational Trust Fund, to assist brilliant but needy school-going children in the community.

Nii Amaatey made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, at the end of their week-long Homowo Festival at Obom, at the weekend.

He said education had been his priority and lauded government's SHS Double Track system, saying that, without education the nation's future would be bleak.

Naa Amaaley Aku Shika I, the Queen Mother of Obom, said the setting up of the Educational Trust Fund would help promote the education of children in the area and, especially, assist to reduce teenage pregnancy.

She advised the youth to be serious with their education and avoid wasting their time on films and the social media.

Nii Asafoatse Amaatey, the Youth Leader of Obom, advised the youth to refrain from tobacco smoking, alcoholism and other negative social vices that would in future ruin their lives and deprive society of their needed support.
