About two hundred structures including schools and CHPS compounds in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region have been ripped off following a severe rainstorm.

The rainstorm, which has also displaced hundreds of residents, has affected service delivery in the affected schools and CHPS compounds.

Nine people are reported injured.
Speaking to Citi News after an impact assessment on the damage caused by the rainstorm, the Binduri District Chief Executive, Yakubu Ayinga Abagre, empathized with the affected residents and pledged that government will do what it can to support them.

“The extent of damage is a big one. So we are responding to it, the whole building was ripped off, including primary school,” he said.

Another heavy rainstorm has hit the Upper West Region, causing havoc to over 1,000 residents in the region.

The Sissala East and West Districts are the worse affected in the rainstorm on Tuesday, where a health centre and two schools were among the 115 households ripped off.

The situation has affected health care delivery some parts of the Sissala East district, as workers at the Kunchogu health centre say they can no longer attend to patients from the over 9 communities that depend on the facility.

Students of the affected schools are now taking their lessons under trees.

NADOMO officials have visited the affected communities but are yet to provide relief items.
