Acceptance Speech By Elected NPP UK Chairman

04.05.2018 LISTEN
By NPP, UK

Patriots,
I would like to thank all of you for your attendance of the AGM 2018 and the subsequent elections of our Branch Officials last night ( 29-04-2018). It was a humbling experience. We must be proud of ourselves for going through the ballot box to select new leaders.

In this regard, let me take this opportunity to congratulate each one of us for making this a successful event. We are all one family, we are strong when we are united. We have a single objective and that is to continue to improve the lot of our Ghanaian folk, and to make Ghana great and strong. This is what sets us apart from the others. We believe in Ghana.

I would again take this opportunity to thank the Immediate past Branch Executives, led by Chairman Ansah, for the work they did in improving what had been built by Chairman Atta Krufi and his predecessors before him – Chairman Ampratwum, Chairman Adjei Bawuah, Chairman SK Boafo and Chairman JH Mensah.

The NPP was formed in the UK before it was registered in Ghana and in taking cognisance of that fact, I acknowledge the role our branch plays in the NPP, both in Ghana and abroad. We shall continue to influence the wider agenda and ensure that the interest of diasporans are firmly at the centre of decision making in our party amongst others.

I pay enormous tribute to my competitors – Mr. Eric Agyeman and Nana Agyeman Gyebi, for such a competitive race. I would be lying if I say I was not scared of the “two giants” in our branch. Let me write this, they would have a part in the new Administration as I wasted no time in telling them shortly after the elections. I have great respect for them, they have done a lot for our party. I recognise that fact and strongly believe they are assets to our Branch.

As I said on election night, this victory is not just mine alone, it is a victory for all of us. We worked together and we won together.

I also pay tribute to the Council of Elders led by Mr. Michael Boye Anawoma. Our Council of Elders would be very instrumental in the new administration, helping us to spur towards the heights and aspirations of the people.

My sincere thanks also goes to the Branch Elections Committee, led by Mr. Noble Agyei Boakye for their sterling work in the conduct of our elections. Yes it was fraught with challenges, but we rose above a lot of them, and will continue to address the rest as the administration begins to anchor.

The task ahead of us is enormous. We must;

  1. Build on what we have been left with
  2. Continue to unite our members and continue to expand
  3. Seek the welfare of our members
  4. Transform our branch into a Technologically driven one
  5. Include chapter leadership in the decision making of our branch
  6. Be at the forefront of galvanising support and resources for our party towards the 2020 elections amongst others.
  7. Build our continued strength towards ROPAA and our participation in the electoral process in Ghana.
  8. Look to implement a reduced rate of dues for our elderly and our youth in universities. This would help us bring more into our fold.

This new administration, would consult very widely amongst our membership, reach out to the disaffected and especially some of the Chapters who were not able to take part in our elections. I promise that we would resolve those issues.

We must work closely with the media, to publicise the programmes our party has initiated and would bring to fruition. My sincere thanks goes to the following media outlets;

  • Naspa Radio
  • Sources Radio
  • Golden Beat
  • Winners
  • Amansan
  • Hot FM and the many others.

I congratulate the new Executive and charge them to work very hard for the continuous advancement of our branch. We must do our work with diligence and respect to one another. A lot is expected of us and we cannot fail our members.

It is time to transform the great ideas from the membership of the NPP UK into bold action, to create a bold NPP UK and a creative Blueprint for the advancement of the branch.

We are pacesetters and must blaze the trail. We must continue to help our party in Government and our able President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo. We must present to Ghana, the best we know how.

We can do it, it is within our reach.
Please let’s all work together for the branch. Our doors are widely opened and we are ready to hear/read from our members.

May God Bless you all and thanks once more for the confidence you have reposed in us. We stand ready, to serve you.

Kwaku Nkansah Paanii
Branch Chairman
NPP UK on behalf of all NPP UK Executives
