A lecturer at the Koforidua Technical University has stated that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) can be positioned to win many elections in the country.

Buckman Akuffo made the assertion when declared his intention to contest for the position of Eastern Regional Secretary of the NPP in the impending primaries.

Mr Akuffo is set to challenge the incumbent regional secretary, Prince Aboagye, who is also seeking re-election.

Announcing his intention at a press conference in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital, the lecturer said he intends to run what he called “a well-structured administration which would ensure that information flows from the national level to the grassroots level.”

According to him, “The 2020 general elections won't be easy at all, therefore the party needs new leadership with strategies, and hard working officers, who can move everywhere to deliver the votes for the NPP in the region to win the next elections.”

Mr Akuffo, who he has been a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the past 25 years, promised that if the delegates give him the nod, he would rejuvenate and resource the research department of the party and motivate the communicators in the region to sell the policies of the party.

“I respect people from all walks of life- rich or poor. I would mobilize all groups and stakeholders for a collective victory in 2020 and beyond.”

Buckman Akuffo has been a member of the Regional Coalition Room, Regional Communication Team and Eastern Regional Communication Strategy sub–Committee.

Mr Akufffo served as Director of Communication & Research for Mass Action for Development (MAFOD), a pressure group in the Eastern Region that promotes good governance and economic development.

He was the Polling Station Secretary from 2002 to 2017 at Koforidua Technical University (KTU) & K'dua Sectech 'A' Polling Station.

The lecturer also appealed to the delegates to vote for him in the upcoming delegates' conference.
