Bolgatanga Municipality Registers 6000 People Under NHIS

Bolgatanga, Aug 05, GNA - Six thousand people have so far registered and paid fully under the Bolgatanga Municipal Mutual Health Insurance Scheme.

Speaking to the GNA on Friday in Bolgatanga Mr Roger Ayine Aposs, the Scheme Manager, said 4,686 people from the formal sector had been registered while 1,320 came from the informal sector. He said 500 pensioners and 872 people above 70 years had also been registered free of charge as directed by the regulations governing the scheme.

Mr Aposs said many people were yearning to patronize the scheme but could not afford to pay the required fee of 72,000 cedis per year and appealed to NGOs and philanthropists to help the poor who cannot pay. Mr Aposs said his outfit was doing everything possible to sensitise the people in the Municipality on the need to join the scheme. He said the loss of some of logistics such as jet printer, camera and photocopier among others to thieves last month was hampering the smooth running of the office.
