The Head Pastor of Calvary Charismatic Church (CCC) at Ayigya in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti region Pastor Ransford Obeng has charged the media in Ghana to take a leading role in the fight against corruption through their medium.

He said as the “Fourth estate of the realm”, media practitioners have a major role in identifying and exposing practices that have the tendency of having a negative impact on the socio-economic growth of the country, through their medium.

Addressing a section of the media ahead of a 3 Day Spiritual Encounter program at the CCC auditorium, Pastor Obeng said corruption for some time now has been a major national concern in drawing back the progress of the country’s development, hence the need to expose those involve, shame them and bring them to justice to the end the canker.

“Corruption now is eating deep in the development of the nation, a lot of projects have been abandoned because of availability of funds, all in the name of corruption. As media practitioners, you must ensure that any person involving in such immoral acts should be exposed to remove the canker,” he said.

He noted that the current government led by Nana Akufo Addo determination to fight corruption will not be achieved if the media, through their medium, do not play its role of exposing corrupt officials.

“Nana Addo alone cannot fight corruption in the country, he needs everybody on board. The media must ensure accountability and transparency in the public sector by making known to the public the activities that go on there to deter people from indulging in corrupt practices,’ he added.

Pastor Ransford Obeng asked the media to shove people found with corrupt practices who might want to influence them in exposing them.

"You have to rise up and speak against corrupt activities, if indeed you have the country at heart as your job describes" Mr Obeng emphasized.

The Head Pastor of International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Dr. Mensah Otabil is expected to deliver a sermon during the 3-day programme, from Friday 19 January to Sunday, January 21 January 2018.
