Gomoa Akotsi, (C\R) May 19, GNA - Mr Benjamin Kojo Otoo, District Chief Executive for Gomoa East has warned that the Assembly would not tolerate shoddy work from any contractor in the area.

According to the DCE, it would be extremely difficult for the Assembly to make payments to contractors who would commence work without precaution on projects in the district.

Mr Otoo gave the warning when he toured various sites to inspect on-going development projects awarded by his predecessors in the Gomoa East.

The DCE was accompanied by Mr Emmanuel Baisie, Gomoa East District Coordinating Director and officials from Engineering, planning and Finance departments of the Assembly.

Mr Otoo first inspected three classroom block with staff common room at Gomoa Obuasi Presbyterian Basic School being financed by District Common Fund.

Mrs Juliet Owusu and Mr Joshua Quainoo, Headmistress and Assistant headmaster respectively appealed to the DCE and his entourage to help construct new building for Kindergarten (KG) due to deplorable state of the existing structure.

The headmistress said to avert disaster, all KG children had been transferred into Presbyterian Church building and asked DCE to reconsider the request of the school.

The DCE and his entourage inspected a CHIPS compound at Gomoa Dabayin to find out the progress of work and asked the contractor to speed up the work.

He also inspected about 50 acres of land which had been used as an industrial village, developed already and awaiting allocation to artisans, market women and men and small scale businesses.

At industrial village, the Coordinating Director told the DCE that the assembly had connected water and electricity and constructed accessible roads to the village.

He also inspected a CHIPS Compound at Gomoa Kweikrom which had been awarded since 2015 and yet to be completed.

Mr Otoo expressed dissatisfaction about the poor work done on the ground floor by the contractor and ordered works department of the assembly to write to the contractor to proceed to the site to make amends.

The DCE and his team also inspected a CHIPS Compound under construction at Gomoa Dampoase and expressed disgust about the siting of the project.

Mr Otoo later told the Media that majority of the projects had been stalled due to financial constraints and assured contractors working in the district that every possible means would be employed to pay them to complete the projects for the benefit of people.
