What The Heck?

What The Heck?
20.02.2017 LISTEN

What the heck are the eyebrows doing at the roof of my eyes?

When we live in our own bubbles we tend to ask such silly question. We feel awkwardness, loss of pride and fear stares us. We feel we are at the wrong side of everything and nothing seems to be right. We talk as though we own the world and the creator is just a spectator. We even question his judgement concerning creation—about how he made things this way and not that way

We wish we were born into a certain race or class--- white or black or brown or yellow. Born rich, and born a superman. Yes we wish we were born perfect without any blemish--- angelic face. Sounds absurd right? You think I’m just making things up. That’s exactly how some people feel every day. They hate themselves. They are never happy and never feel appreciative about who they are.

Indeed your eyebrows aren’t as big as an umbrella. And they aren’t as thin as a thin-thread. They are what they are. You may not like them but the creator made them so for a reason. After all, what purpose would they have served if they were made so—tiny or big?

They’re like a vehicle’s wiper you will never know its importance until the rains set in. Or like the tail of a cow tiny it might seem yet that’s the major weapon she uses to drive away flies or insects. Always remember nobody does it better than he that created the universe and all the things therein. And don’t forget he always does things his way. He doesn’t need our approval.

What the heck?
Truly the eyebrows may seem insignificant but their roles cannot be modulated. Their main function is conjectured expression. They’re also n to prevent sweat, water and other debris from falling down into the eye socket. As already pointed out they are important to human communication and facial expression. Today it’s uncommon for people to change their eyebrows by means of hair addition, removal and makeups.

Imagine if everything were mad e the same,--same size same kind, same shape, same weight same height and what have you. Imagine if we were all born rich or poor. Or we were all born ugly. There are times we need the wise to help us make the right decisions or do the right things and there other times we bypass the wise and fall on the folly.

Yes you know that. You’re aware the fool isn’t held in high esteem in our societies. The fool is mocked and he’s often despised. But when situations get gory we beseech him.

So why can’t we show gratitude to whatever someone does for us? Rather than measure the size or weight. Or ask how much does it worth? I can tell you this --nothing too small is too little and nothing too little is too small. Show appreciation. Say thank you. Give thanks to the Lord for the blue sky, yellow Moon and the golden Sun. Smile like River Nile. Let your smiles cross borders. Infect someone with your megabyte smile. Be the cause of his happiness and joy. Tell him or her (Brother) you look awesome today.

Hard to believe though it seems we have lost our appetite for appreciation. In other words our sense of gratitude appears s to have gone to sleep or swallowed by ingratitude. We taunt people with big ears and we do same to those who have tiny ones. If your mouth is big you’re called names—like a pig. And if it’s small you’d be labeled.

I’m tempted to believe that as a people, we build a better and stronger society whenever we show appreciation to the kindness, service and the love we get. This motivates us to reciprocate the gesture. Therefore let’s not overlook the functions one plays. Let’s see each other’s role as crucial and invaluable.

The cornerstone story is a classic example. “The stone which the builders refused is become the head corner stone,” Psalm 118:22 (KJV). Indeed the cornerstone isn’t b as big as the foundation stone, yet the role it plays is perhaps more critical than the latter. It is evident that the builder cannot do without it... There would be defect in the super structure.

Also consider how your whole body reacts when you accidently cut your pinky finger. The mind becomes restless. And the heart consoles the victim constantly. The cooperation of the body always piques my mind. They show empathy and sympathises with one another when one is hurt.

Trust the brain to come out with quick solution. The brain would be checking on the pinky finger .back and forth. Must I get some band aide on it? Or must II go to the clinic and have a tetanus injection? What I do I do? Until a solution is found and the wound is healed the whole body would remain uncomfortable.

Do you still say: What a heck?
