Residents of Nabango near Mirigu in the Kassena- Nankana District of the Upper East region woke up to the sordid sight last Tuesday when dogs and pigs had eaten up a day old baby.
The infant, who was believed to be abandoned near an old well in the town by an unknown person, had its limbs, hands and parts of his head devoured by the animals.
A resident of the town who did not provide his name expressed regret about the situation.
He said the attention of the people was drawn to the incident in the morning of Tuesday, March 8, this year.
“When we rushed to the scene, we found that it was actually true so we report to the Chief, who directed that the corpse be buried immediately” he said.
He said when they were in the process of carrying out the directive, someone drew their attention to the need to report to the police, which they did.
He said the police subsequently came to the scene to convey the corpse to the hospital for an inquest to be conducted
When contacted, the Navrongo District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr. Samuel Owusu Berko said the police are investigating the incident.
