Koforidua, April 2, GNA - Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, the Eastern Regional Minister, has expressed her joy at the fact that more schools are gradually admitting more female students.

She said this when she visited some students writing the West African Senior High School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to wish them success in their examination.

Schools visited include Koforidua Secondary Technical (SECTEC), Oyoko Methodist Senior High School and New Juaben Senior High School.

She also expressed satisfaction with the turn out by students to the examinations halls adding that out of the 2,491 candidates registered in the schools that she visited, about 900 were females with two absentees and one deceased.

About 46,000 students were registered to write the WASSCE in 85 centers across the Region.

She expressed the hope that Senior High Schools in the Region will be rated among the first 70 in the rankings of the nation's best Senior High Schools in the country.

The Regional Minister urged the students to do their best as the outcome of the examination could determine their future.
