Political science lecturer at the Spiritan University Kofi Owusu Yeboah has noted that the crushing down of some members of parliament during the NPP’s parliamentary primaries is not a shock to most of the party members.

According to him it was a decision taken by delegates at the grassroot level since most of the delegates were expecting the MPs to loose their seats due to their non-performance in their various constituencies.

He said this on the Royal Morning Show hosted by Sir Richmond Antwi Boasiako after the NPP’s parliamentary primaries.

Kofi Owusu Yeboah stated that the grassroot members of the party are so passionate about bringing the NPP back into power in 2016 therefore anyone who seems to impede such victory needs to be sidelined ‘‘and this has been the decision of the delegates’’.

Kofi Owusu Yeboah furthur reiterated that the NPP lacks political strategy to win the 2016 elections; adding that to vote against a vibrant president such as president John Dramani Mahama, the current misunderstanding can’t guarantee the party victory in the 2016 polls.

‘‘The NPP has failed to perform its duties as an opposition party and this will cost them a lot’’ he noted.

He described Adai Nimoh and Kokofu’s defeat as shocks which were unexpected.

However he stated that ‘‘Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu’s win can be his last term in parliament for the Suame constituency “if he fails to perform his duties’’. He noted that the minority leader won because he was on firm grounds.

In a related development, Former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister Joseph Yammin has congratulated the opposition party for such peaceful primaries. He has also commended the newly elected members especially the youth amongst them.
